Firefox's Market Share

Firefox's market share is increasing day by day due to agressive marketing campaign and media hype. Major industrial players have adopted it as their official web browser. eg: According to a latest CNET.com's report IBM's 30000 staff(almost 10% of total staff) already uses Firefox; besides that, IBM also encourages the use of Firefox as their standard Browser.

Google also has released various extensions for Firefox showing interest in it. It also recommends Firefox for its premier weblog service Blogger.com, and its newly launched free hosting service, Googlepages.com

Search Engines like Yahoo!, A9.com, Google have released toolbar extension for Firefox and also have shown special interests in developing more extension s for firefox.

Institutions like: University of Chicago, Yale University, Boston College, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Kansas State University have recently adopted Firefox as official web browsers across the campus network. Rutgers University and Penn State University have installed Firefox on lab computers in most of its branch campuses and some labs in State College.

Moreover, Netscape has launched its new version of famous web browser Netscape navigator 8 based on Firefox and MSIE(MS Internet Explorer).

Firefox today holds the market share of 20 % approx of Browsers on Internet. According to a report 120 million of the 1 Billion web users use Firefox. In Europe this share is 37%.
